You don't need to be a T-Mobile customer to use the service.  All you'll need is a Wi-Fi (802.11b) enabled laptop (or other wireless device).  Many of today's laptops have this capability built-in.  If yours doesn't, you can purchase an add-in card at most consumer electronics retailers.
