As part of a summer long celebration of African coffees, Starbucks UK has committed to the completion of an educational project at Daye High School.
For every bag of African coffee sold within the UK between May & September, Starbucks will make a donation of 75p to complete this exciting project.
Daye is the capital of the Sidamo region of southern Ethiopia and about 15 KM away from the village of Bensa Ware. Starbucks
The first stage of the project will be to establish library facilities for pupils and other children in the area to use. A new building will be constructed to safely store a new set of text, dictionaries, fiction and other non fiction titles.
Once this is completed the second stage will begin. This will include an upgrade of current facilities renovating class rooms, purchasing new chairs, tables and installing toilets.
Illiteracy and innumeracy are high in Ethiopia this project will make a difference to the lives of coffee farmers and their families living in the area.
