Starbucks and CARE International

Starbucks has worked with Care International, since 1991. As the world’s largest private non-profit international relief and development organisation, CARE works in more than 60 countries to address the underlying causes of poverty and provide emergency relief in times of disaster.

Over the years, Starbucks has contributed or helped raise more than £1.2 million ($2 million) for CARE programs, which have touched the lives of nearly 3 million people in coffee-origin countries. Starbucks is one of CARE’s largest North American corporate donors.

 Starbucks emergency response fund

When a disaster strikes in coffee-and tea-origin countries, Starbucks support is readily available. Starbucks has appointed CARE as our official agent for disaster response. Together, we established the Starbucks Emergency Response Fund to ensure our immediate support in a crisis. In financial year 2002, Starbucks donated £120,000 ($200,000) to this fund.
